Petals on the River
continues in 2024!

On the Sunday before Memorial Day, the Museum traditionally holds the Petals on the River event where flower petals are dropped from the bridge into the Sammamish River in memory of friends and relatives. A flotilla of petals on the water is a beautiful sight, and thankfully in 2022 we resumed this tradition after two years without it.

In 2023, the event took place on Sunday, May 28th at 12:30 on the arched footbridge over the river in The Park at Bothell Landing. Flower petals were brought in memory of those whom we have lost. To honor the people in whose names friends and families have made monetary contributions to the Bothell Historical Museum this last year, their names have been placed on a Memorial Board in the Hannan House where you may visit whenever the museum is open.

This year, the event will happen on Sunday, May 26. All are welcome to participate.

2023 Giving Tuesday, November 28

Giving Tuesday 2023 has passed. But any day is a good day to give your support. The Bothell Historical Museum Society needs your donations to help us fulfill our mission.

The mission of the Bothell Historical Museum Society is to document the history and preserve historical artifacts of the Bothell area while maintaining and caring for the three historic buildings that house the Museum’s collections, to bring together those interested in local history, to enrich and enhance school programs through museum tours and Treasure Box use, to educate the public at large, and to promote historic preservation.

Please consider making a tax deductible donation.

Donating through our donate button will send the donation to us immediately and will also allow you to make a Memorial Donation.

Sending a donation through the PayPal Giving Fund will cover the PayPal fee for the museum but may take longer to reach us. To donate through the PayPal Giving Fund, click here.

City of Bothell-funded repairs to the porch at the Hannan House have been completed, and the ground floor is again wheelchair
accessible. Due to structural problems at the schoolhouse, that building will not be wheelchair accessible until funds for its repair have been allocated and the access ramp is secured.

The Park at Bothell Landing was created in the 1960s with funds from Forward Thrust and Community Development.

The Hannan House was moved from its original site on Main Street to the park in 1978.  The house has been the home to the Bothell Historical Society since 1969.

The Historical Society has furnished the interior with special care and attention to historic detail, ensuring each room contains items which date from the late 1800s to mid 1900s. Images from the Hannan House displays can be seen by clicking this link.

The Hannan House, schoolhouse and cabin are open on Sundays from April through October, 1 pm to 4 pm.

The Schoolhouse, built in 1885, has been rearranged for a better visual experience and the 1884 Beckstrom log cabin has been refurnished and the displays have been updated.
