Seattle Now and Then
Bothell Woman’s Relief Corps Activities

The Bothell Museum’s Hannan House was selected by the Seattle Times to be featured in the July 31st Sunday edition of the Pacific NW magazine, “Seattle Now and Then” feature. A 1908 photo of the Bothell Woman’s Relief Corps, taken in front of the Hannan House, has been replicated with current museum members, many in period costumes. The Woman’s Relief Corps was a women’s auxiliary group to the Civil War veterans organization, the Grand Army of the Republic. An article of explanation accompanies the photos. The article may be seen by clicking this link. To view even more on the Woman’s Relief Corps, including a photo which echoes the historical pose of WRC members at the William Hannan home, now situated at Bothell Landing and housing the Bothell Historical Museum, with 18 women, four girls and a man, including several descendants of historical city figures, click here to link to extended coverage of the “Seattle Now and Then” feature by Clay Eals on pauldorpat.com.

Sunday, July 31st and Sunday, August 7th

Richard Heisler, Museum member and founder of Civil War Seattle, on Sunday, July 31, and Sunday, August 7, presented a curated display of items and photographs from the museum collection. He talked with visitors about the Woman’s Relief Corps and Bothell veterans of the Civil War. We hope you read the article in the Seattle Times and had the opportunity to visit the Bothell Museum on one of those Sundays to meet and talk to Richard.

Window Display

In August 2022, we had a small window display, visible through the Hannan House windows for visitors to Park at Bothell Landing, displaying objects from the GAR (Grand Army of the Republic) veterans organization.
