Toys and Tea Time-January/February, 2022

Our January through February 2022 display, visible through the Hannan House windows in the Park at Bothell Landing, continued some of the elements from December. The children’s toys of simpler times from our collection were a big hit. The children are kept busy with these while the women of the household enjoy tea time. They may have just looked at greeting cards they had received.

TEA TIME TABLE SETTING
Victorian Queen Anne parlors were favorite tea time settings. Tea pots, cups, saucers were often inherited family China or commemorative travel collections. China patterns depicted floral garden bouquets in lavender, blue, green and white.

TEA TIME ATTIRE
On the left, a cocoa toned floor length satin skirt and a small black beaded hand bag compliment but don’t compete with the exquisite wine-toned satin jacket adorned with velvet soft appliqués.

It was perfectly fine for younger ladies to attend a tea dressed in a classic long sleeve white embroidered cotton blouse cinched a tad with a tie at the waist, over a light wool French vanilla 3/4 length skirt. A tightly woven straw hat in a neutral tone with a chocolate felt ribbon added a sweet contrast to the youthful winter white ensemble on the right.
